November 28th is the date of the 6th edition of TEDx Amsterdam with the Amsterdam Stadsschouwburg as the place of action. This year, it offers an exciting innovation, featured by Sightcorp technology in cooperation with Dell and Handmade UX. TEDx Amsterdam will offer Mood Sensing as a technological first.
The illustrious TED-talks will be monitored for the emotional impact they have on the audience and the enabling technology of choice is real-time analysis of the facial expressions of the audience. Sightcorp applies a number of ambient light and infrared cameras to detect a significant number of individual faces from the 900-people audience. The facial expressions are measured and analysed for their emotional response and attention level (engagement) during the individual talks and the aggregated results are displayed in real-time as mood levels and engagement levels, categorised per male/female age brackets.
Sightcorp facial analysis technology enables the accurate measurement of a selection of facial mood expressions like happiness, anger and surprise, and it also recognises features like age, gender and head gaze. With this information available in real-time, Mood Sensing of audiences provides qualified information on how people respond spontaneously to stimuli of their senses. At TEDx, the TED-talks can now be visualised and compared in real-time for their emotional impact, one of the key achievements of an interesting and entertaining presentation.
