What is eye-tracking?

Eye tracking is a technique that tells you where, when en how participants look by recording and observating of eye behaviour such as pupil movement and dilation. With eye tracking software you can analyze peoples behaviour and evaluate performances of products, images, environments and other visual objects. This technology is used to reveal insights about people’s behaviour in many fields such as market research and commercial testing.

How does eye-tracking work? 

Eye-tracking is a straightforward process and starts with sending out near infrared light. At the same time the light is reflected in your eyes. Those reflections are picked up by cameras from the eye tracker. For pupil dilation, the eye tracker measures pupil sizes using video images taken by cameras. In order to work as accurately as possible, the system must know more about your eyes, so for gaze locations, the eye tracker uses a calibration process to map eye movements into location subjects.
